Pizca Chile is a Michigan-based company that was born out of the desire to share the Castro family traditional Mexican chile in oil recipe. Alejandra brought the recipe to America and shared it with her friends. After tasting the chile, Jessica and Nowell couldn’t get enough and knew the incomparable flavor of Pizca Chile had to be shared!
Pizca Chile is a real food condiment! Our Mexican chile in oil is made in small batches using quality, real food ingredients that promote health. Oil separation is natural so it is best to stir your chile before each use. Pizca Chile does not need to be refrigerated, but some people do enjoy it cold.
We don’t use just any chile pepper. We use a chile pepper that is only grown in one region of the world, Mexico. This chile pepper has a unique flavor because of the particular climate and soil in which it grows.
The semi-arid conditions and iron-rich soil contribute to the distinct and complex flavor of this deep red chile. The chile that we purchase comes from farms where the chile is hand-harvested only once a year and dried in the sun. Full of minerals and earthy flavor, Our chile is one thing that sets Pizca apart!
We don’t use just any salt. We use Mexican sea salt that is hand-harvested during a specific time of year in Colima, Mexico. Salt-farmers harvest the salt and let the rainwater and sun purify it, a practice that has been going on in this region for over 500 years. This artisanal salt is full of minerals and accentuates the flavor of Pizca!
Some things are better done by hand. We follow in the tradition of using people, not machines, to create each jar of Pizca Chile. Our chile is hand-harvested, our salt is hand-harvested, and we boast a hand-made batch size of 4 jars.
But why keep it so small…..
Because we can’t get it to taste this good any other way!
Our process requires attention to the cook and blend of the chile. Most chile in oil products do not grind up the seeds because industrial equipment has a hard time doing this. We keep it small so we can blend our ingredients to the consistency that showcases the flavor of the chile the bestway possible. Our process is important!
